What You Will Learn from the Chief Information Officer Program

While grounded in a technological background, today’s chief information officer is a business leader who knows how to effectively transform technology knowledge into business solutions. Comprehensive Curriculum

The program’s immersive nine-month learning journey includes a mix of live sessions, video lectures, and weekly assignments. The core modules will prepare you to lead your organization’s business strategies, advance technology investment initiatives, and develop cybersecurity resilience frameworks. In addition, you will learn how to recruit and retain diverse talent and leverage data to drive business decisions and customer experiences. Guest interviews with industry practitioners will provide an outside-in perspective on the latest industry trends. Your cohort will be assigned a success coach who will help you craft a learning journey aligned with your career goals.

Engaging Scenario-Based Learning
You will examine case studies or scenarios to develop your understanding of concepts, frameworks, and decision making in real-world business contexts. In addition to your core learning, you will be tasked with the creation of a CIO road map that will provide you with the tools and frameworks to succeed in your role.

Len Peters

CIO and C-Suite Advisor, CIO Program Faculty Director — NYU Tandon

Len Peters is a transformative senior technology executive who drives innovative change and productivity. He has a proven record of success in higher education, healthcare, diversified financial services, and manufacturing. Peters served in the CIO role for more than 20 years, including long stints at New York University, Yale University, and Columbia Business School. He currently enjoys multiple roles including advisor to the CIO Institute and executive consultant at FX IT. He is also a certified mindfulness and meditation teacher.

Faculty Member Sanjay Macwan

Sanjay Macwan

Global CIO and CISO, Vonage

Sanjay Macwan currently serves as global CIO and CISO at Vonage, where his focus is on driving secure cloud-native infrastructure, digital transformation, and world-class data-driven decisions. Previously, Macwan built and led successful technology innovation programs for AT&T Foundry and Comcast NBCUniversal Media Labs. He holds 48 U.S. patents in mobility, information security, cloud, multimedia and content, and IP networking. He is also an investor/advisor to local tech startups in sports, healthcare, and advertising and the venture capital firm Tech Council Ventures.

Minerva Tantoco

Chief AI Officer, NYU McSilver Institute

Minerva Tantoco is an innovator, investor, startup founder, author, advisor, and speaker on AI, cybersecurity, and mobile technology. Tantoco served as New York City’s first-ever chief technology officer. Based on her efforts, New York City was named 2016 Best Smart City, and she helped launch initiatives such as LinkNYC, CSforAll, and Internet of Things Guidelines, as well as promoted an inclusive, equitable tech ecosystem.
